OBSERVATION OF WORLD HEALTH DAY, APRIL 7TH 2026

Education goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. We believe in empowering students to explore their passions challenge conventions.

World Health Day 2026 — “Together for Health. Stand with Science.”

Observed on 7th April 2026, World Health Day this year was marked by the WHO under the theme “Together for Health. Stand with Science.” — a year-long campaign celebrating the power of scientific collaboration to protect the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet.

The theme underscores that science-driven partnerships are essential to building a healthier future, promoting public trust in evidence-based decisions across health, climate, and the environment. Central to the campaign is the One Health approach, recognizing that human, animal, and planetary health are deeply interconnected — and that multilateral cooperation is key to turning scientific evidence into real-world action.

On this occasion, under the guidance of Dr. P. Radha Kumari, MD., Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, Radio talk was delivered by our faculty emphasising the significance of current year’s theme. Certain activities were conducted for Undergraduates and Post graduates. Quiz contest was conducted by IAPSM and our undergraduate students have actively participated.

Radio talk

In the observance of World Health Day 2026, Dr. K. Sai Sushma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Medicine, King George Hospital (KGH), Visakhapatnam, delivered an informative and theme-based health talk through Akashvani (All India Radio), Visakhapatnam, on the Medium Wave frequency of 927 kHz. The broadcast was aired on 7th April 2026 at 7:25 AM.

The session focused on highlighting the significance of the World Health Day theme, creating public awareness on key health issues, and emphasizing the importance of preventive and promotive health practices among the general population. Through this outreach activity, valuable health information was disseminated to a wide audience, contributing to community awareness and reinforcing the role of mass media in public health education.

Essay Writing Competition & Infographic Presentation — World Health Day 2026

In commemoration of World Health Day 2026, a series of enriching academic events were organized to engage both postgraduate and undergraduate students in meaningful health advocacy and scientific awareness.

An Essay Writing Competition was conducted for postgraduate students, centred on the official theme of the year — “Together for Health. Stand with Science.” The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 10 postgraduate scholars, each presenting their perspectives and insights on the significance of scientific collaboration in global health. The event was highly competitive, reflecting the depth of knowledge and passion among the participants. Dr. Divya Priya emerged as the First Prize winner, impressing the judges with her exceptional articulation and analytical approach, while Dr. Balu Prasanna secured the Second Prize, earning recognition for his outstanding composition and well-researched content and Dr. Likhitha bagged third prize.

On the other hand, an Infographic Presentation Competition was organized exclusively for undergraduate students, offering them a creative and visually engaging platform to express their understanding of science’s role in shaping global health. The competition was built around the concept that the foundation of science in health has been steadily and progressively laid over the past several years. A total of 6 teams participated in this event, with each team comprising 3 members, making it a collective effort of 18 undergraduate students altogether.

Each team was assigned one of the past 6 years as their theme, tasked with designing an informative and visually compelling poster that captured the significance, key activities, major achievements, and the pivotal role of science in health during their respective year. This unique format allowed the students to trace the journey of scientific progress in global health — year by year — showcasing how each year has contributed meaningfully to the broader mission of building a healthier, evidence-driven world. The presentations not only highlighted the evolution of health science over time but also reinforced the message that standing with science is not a moment, but a movement — one that has been growing steadily and continues to inspire action toward a better and healthier future for all.

 IAPSM QUIZ CONTEST

Undergraduate students of the 2023 batch actively participated in the IAPSM WORLD HEALTH DAY 2026 Quiz contest, which commenced with a college-level preliminary round.
