Common Teaching Program

The New Era of Obesity Medicine 2026

Academy of Medical Sciences, Andhra Medical College

The Common Teaching Program titled “The New Era of Obesity Medicine 2026 – Translating Neuro-Metabolic Science into Practice” was conducted successfully on 10th April 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Dr B R Ambedkar Auditorium, CAB Building, Andhra Medical College.

The academic program witnessed an overwhelming response with a packed audience comprising faculty members, postgraduate students, interns, and healthcare professionals from various departments. The sessions generated active participation and enthusiastic interaction throughout the program.

The event commenced with a welcome address and introduction by the Academy of Medical Sciences, followed by a series of highly informative interdisciplinary sessions focusing on modern concepts in obesity medicine.

The Department of Medicine highlighted obesity as a chronic disease and discussed its growing clinical burden and therapeutic positioning. The Department of Endocrinology delivered an insightful session on neuroendocrine regulation of appetite and the evolving role of GLP-1, dual, and triple agonists in obesity management. The Department of Psychiatry addressed behavioural neuroscience, psychiatric considerations, and treatment adherence in obesity care.

A multidisciplinary panel discussion involving distinguished experts provided practical perspectives on clinical integration and comprehensive obesity management. The open question-and-answer session witnessed active audience interaction and meaningful academic discussion.

The presence and guidance of eminent panelists:

  • Dr K A V Subramanyam, Professor & HOD, Endocrinology, AMC
  • Dr A V Siva Prasad, Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist
  • Dr Narasimha Reddy, Former Professor of Psychiatry, AMC

greatly enriched the academic value of the program.

The program concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks. Overall, the Common Teaching Program was conducted smoothly and successfully, receiving excellent feedback from participants for its relevance, multidisciplinary approach, and high academic standards.
