International Yoga Day 2026

Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and active participation on 21st June 2026. The programme commenced at 6:00 AM at the Centenary Alumni Building Courtyard in accordance with the International Day of Yoga celebrations.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Dr. K. V. S. M. Sandhya Devi, Principal, Andhra Medical College, who encouraged students and faculty to adopt yoga as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle and emphasized its role in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The yoga session was led by Dr. N. A. V. S. K. Ravi Kumar, Chief Yoga Instructor, and Dr. P. Lakshmana Rao, Yoga Instructor, who demonstrated the Common Yoga Protocol and guided the participants through various yogasanas, breathing exercises (Pranayama), and relaxation techniques.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Manoj, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine (Student Guidance & Support), with the support of Dr. P. S. N. Raju, Associate Professor, Department of Physiology (Yoga Unit), Dr. Vijay, Department of Community Medicine, Mrs. Aruna, Nursing In-charge, Principal, Nursing College, and their respective teams.

A large number of participants, including Undergraduate (UG) students, Postgraduate (PG) students, Nursing students, faculty members, and staff from Andhra Medical College, King George Hospital, and the Nursing College, enthusiastically participated in the programme. The participants performed the Common Yoga Protocol in a disciplined and synchronized manner, reflecting their commitment towards health, wellness, and holistic living.

The celebration reinforced the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, highlighting the importance of yoga in achieving harmony between individual health and the well-being of society and the environment.

The programme concluded with a message encouraging all participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routine for a healthier body, calmer mind, and improved quality of life.
