Doctors’ Day Celebrations 2026

Andhra Medical College (AMC), Visakhapatnam celebrated National Doctors’ Day with great enthusiasm and reverence on 1st July 2026 at the CAB Auditorium.

The programme was organized under the leadership of Dr. K.V.S.M. Sandhya Devi, MD, Addl. Director of Medical Education & Principal, Andhra Medical College, to commemorate the invaluable contribution of doctors to society and to reaffirm the institution’s commitment to excellence in medical education and patient care.

A special highlight of the celebrations was the felicitation of the former Directors of Medical Education (DMEs) who have made remarkable contributions to the advancement of medical education and healthcare services in the State. The distinguished former DMEs who attended the programme were:

  • Dr. R. Sasi Prabha
  • Dr. K. Vishnu Prasad
  • Dr. G. Santa Rao
  • Dr. N. Subba Rao

The former DMEs were felicitated with shawls, mementoes, and bouquets as a mark of gratitude and appreciation for their dedicated service, visionary leadership, and invaluable contribution to the medical profession.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K.V.S.M. Sandhya Devi highlighted the significance of National Doctors’ Day and emphasized the ideals of compassion, dedication, ethical practice, and lifelong learning that define the medical profession.

The 2026 theme is “ Behind the Mask : Who heals the healers ? ”  highlights the mental, physical and emotional well being of the doctors. She expressed her gratitude to all doctors for their unwavering commitment to serving humanity and appreciated the guidance and legacy of the former DMEs.

The programme was attended by senior faculty members, retired professors, medical officers, postgraduate and undergraduate students, and other healthcare professionals. The gathering paid rich tributes to the service and sacrifices of doctors and acknowledged their indispensable role in improving healthcare and medical education.

The celebrations concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving participants inspired to continue the tradition of excellence, service, and compassion that has long been the hallmark of Andhra Medical College.
