Navabharat Nirman Sensitization Program on Anti-Ragging, Cyber Crimes, Crime Against Women, and Drug Abuse conducted at Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam Visakhapatnam, 1st August 2025.
A Navabharat Nirman Sensitization Program focusing on Anti-Ragging, Cyber Crimes, Crimes Against Women, and Drug Abuse was successfully conducted at Andhra Medical College (AMC), Visakhapatnam on 1st August 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM
The program was attended by over 600 medical students from various professional years, emphasizing the importance of awareness and proactive measures against social evils affecting the student community and society at large. The event was graced by Dr. S. Bagchi, Commissioner of Police, Visakhapatnam, who delivered an insightful keynote address highlighting the legal frameworks, preventive strategies, and the pivotal role of youth in combating ragging, cyber crimes, and substance abuse. He also sensitized students about the rising incidents of cyber frauds, online harassment, and the critical importance of digital vigilance in the current era.
Accompanying him was the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Visakhapatnam, who elaborated on the various crimes against women, stressing the need for gender sensitivity, legal literacy, and the empowerment of young citizens to become agents of change.
The event was hosted under the leadership of Dr. Sandhya Devi, Principal, Andhra Medical College, who welcomed the dignitaries and reiterated AMC’s strong stance against ragging and substance abuse. She emphasized the institution’s continuous efforts in fostering a safe and inclusive academic environment. The program was coordinated with the active involvement of the Vice Principals, Administrative Officers, and Faculty of Andhra Medical College. Interactive sessions were held where students engaged with the police officials, discussing real-life scenarios, clarifying doubts regarding reporting mechanisms, helpline numbers, and the legal recourse available to victims of cyber crimes and harassment. Awareness materials and pamphlets on Anti-Ragging laws, Cyber Safety Guidelines, and Drug Abuse Prevention were distributed among the students. The sensitization program was a crucial initiative in strengthening student awareness, fostering responsible digital behavior, and encouraging the youth to be vigilant and responsible citizens. It marks yet another step by Andhra Medical College towards creating a zero-tolerance campus against ragging, harassment, and substance abuse.
