This department was started at Andhra Medical College in 1988 and shifted to the Super Specialty Block in 2012. The admissions of post graduates began in 2012 and the MCI recognition for the Super specialty course came in 2016. The plastic surgery department of AMC, KGH won the “Best Performing Specialty Award” under Arogyasri health scheme from Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva trust in the year 2018.

The department offers a wide range of reconstructive, aesthetic and burns care services to the peolpe of the North Andhra districts and adjoining areas of Orissa and Chattisgarh states. The department offers a wide range of services for congenital anomalies like cleft lip and cleft palate repair, syndactyly, vascular malformations, reconstructive surgery following oncological curative resections and post traumatic defects such as maxillofacial injuries, hand injuries, acute burns and post burns sequelae management.

A total of 7000 patients were seen and treated in addition to over 600 burns patients in 2022
