Theme: “Building ADR Reporting Culture for the General Public”
Visakhapatnam, 17th September 2025 — The Department of Pharmacology, Andhra Medical College, proudly commemorates National Pharmacovigilance Week with a focused campaign on “Building ADR Reporting Culture for the General Public.” The initiative underscores the vital role of Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting in ensuring safe medicines and safe lives.
The week-long observance aims to foster public awareness, empower healthcare professionals, and encourage active participation in pharmacovigilance. Through posters, interactive sessions, and outreach activities, the department highlights:
- 🩺 What is ADR? — A noxious and unintended response to a drug at normal doses used for prevention, diagnosis, or treatment.
- 📍 Where to report? — ADRs can be reported to healthcare professionals, hospitals, medical colleges, and designated pharmacovigilance centers.
- 👥 Who can report? — Patients, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and all stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem.
The campaign emphasizes four pillars of ADR reporting:
- Patient Safety — Early detection saves lives.
- Prevention — Awareness materials help avert future reactions.
- Improvement — Reported data enhances drug safety and efficacy.
- Economy — Reducing ADRs lowers healthcare costs and improves outcomes.
