As part of the on-going ‘2-Week Foundation Course’ for fresh Batch of MBBS students at Andhra Medical College, the Honourable District Judge & Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Smt. M. V. Seshamma and Shri Lakshmana Murthy, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vizag (East), chaired the Interactive Awareness Session on the Andhra Pradesh Anti-Ragging Act and each of its Sections and major provisions. Dr. G. Butchi Raju, Principal of Andhra Medical College, and Dr. S. Ravindra Kishore, Professor & Head of the Department of Anatomy co-chaired the Session. The students were briefed on how to identify and report events of Ragging. The various punishments for acts of ragging were also discussed. Focus was also laid on the Narcotic drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, the POCSO Act, and the Motor Vehicles Act besides making special mention of Cybercrime. The visiting dignitaries from the Judicial and the Police Authorities have also shared their contact phone numbers with the students for use in critical times.
