Principal's Message

Andhra Medical College challenges the best and the brightest minds to learn the science of medicine and public health, and the art of compassionate care. As one of the Nation’s Premier Medical College, AMC is dedicated to advancing biomedical knowledge and human healing through innovative educational methods.

Andhra Medical College faculty takes pride in its commitment to educating the next generation of scientists, public health practitioners and clinicians. Our community is comprised of men and women who are passionate about their work and are poised to make significant contributions to clinical medicine, health care and translational research.

AMC encompasses three distinct educational pathways, all of which train the best leaders in their fields:

Students pursuing an MD are educated in the classroom and in a variety of top-notch clinical settings in the Andhra Pradesh. Our graduates obtain admission to outstanding residency programs ranging from family medicine to highly specialized practices; in doing so, they realize their fullest potential as clinicians, researchers, and public health workers.

Regardless of the educational pathway, AMC provides all students a high quality educational experience that is rigorous, and committed to professionalism.

In recent years, our medical college has become an even better place to pursue an education. With totally modernized facilities, a redesigned curriculum that introduces early clinical experiences, and new academic partnerships and global initiatives, we are pointed aggressively to the future. Thanks to the generosity of the Government of India, Medical Council of India and Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences, our medical students now participate in learning communities that bring together small groups of students and their advisors to enhance personal attention and a sense of community within the larger educational environment. This gift resulted in new educational and student facilities, including a fully equipped fitness center and state-of-the-art clinical skills and simulation center.

AMC has always been a leader in cutting edge educational initiatives, having pioneered problem-based learning.This comprehensive tool has been exported to medical schools and health care institutions all over the world.

AMC numerous global initiatives are a source of great pride to the entire AMC’s community. Partnerships include institutions Dr.NTRUHS and Harvard Medical School. Many of our Faculty trained to learn and to contribute. Exposure to these experiences enriches their own lives, and those of our global partners and host communities.

AMC’s achievements are a tribute to the Nation, our faculty, our students, our staff, and our alumni. Indian Academy of Neurology is the all India registered Association of Neurologists and allied specialists with a Membership of nearly 4000.  The 30th National Conference of Indian Academy of Neurology, IANCON 2023  is being held at Madurai from 14th to 17th Sepetember, 2023.  Dr. G. Butchi Raju, Principal Andhra Medical College and former HOD, Neurology Department was awarded the Fellow of Indian Academy of Neurology (FIAN) for his contribution to Indian Academy of Neurology and Neurological Services.  Dr. G. Butchi Raju is Alumni of Andhra Medical College and has done his DM Neurology from the prestegious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in December, 1992.  He has thirty years  of government service and was Prof & HOD, Neurology for nearly twelve years and Principal, Andhra Medical College since one year.  He was also Immediate Past President of Andhra Pradesh Neuroscientists’ Association.  AMC is honoured  that one of its Alumni and the present Principal being presented with the prestigious FIAN during the Centenary Year at IANCON2023.  The Prestigious IANCON 2024, 31st Annual Conference of Indian Academy of Neurology will held at Visakhapatnam from 16 – 20th October 2024 under the aegis of Department of Neurology, Andhra Medical College.
